what our kids are reading now

  • The adventures of Samuarai Jack has been great fun to read. The series is about, an evil shape-shifter named Aku from the distant past that has brought destruction upon the land. Jack is a heroic warrior in a quest to return to the past and undo the evil wrought by Aku. ~ d

  • Dillon has been loving “The Monster Show” for weeks. It is a cute “tell all” about monsters... did you know that monsters feel silly only wearing underpants? Little D (3) now reads it back to me and it is the cutest thing ever. ~d

  • This is a great little series of books about trucks, fire engines, digger and other machines. Dillon reads these over and over again. The have cute illustrations, bright colors and they are about machines — what little boy wouldn't like! ~d

  • Milkshakes and Margaritas is a daily website dedicated to all things kid and parent related, run by San Francisco-based moms, Tanya Schevitz & Danielle Gutherie.

Tanya is the mother of 2 boys, and a writer for several publications, including the San Francisco Chronicle. Danielle also has 2 boys and is a partner and designer in the SF based design studio — the Vega Project.

Every week we will be sharing things we've learned, giving tips on parenting and life, recommending products we love, interviews with successful moms, and more.

We’re always interested in new ideas, so let us know what you think — and please come back for more.

Just stumbled upon your blog (from Make and Takes) and love this idea. I'm also wondering where you got that great little tent. My son is big into forts and we just set up a 2-man tent in his room. But I'd love to find something smaller that we could leave up permanently :)

Thank you Amber. The tent was a gift from my mom. She found it at a show last year, and happens to be going to the same show this weekend. I've asked her to be a scout and look for the craftsman who makes these. If she can find him, I'll post about it as well as send you his info.

funny. ours are like this too and for visual kids i think it makes books easy to find too (besides being pretty)

This certainly isn't Tanya's house.
