My husband loves to abuse the video camera. He walks around taping everything. “Here’s the credenza, here’s the couch...oh look, it’s Tanya,” usually right when I have Medusa hair and have on ripped sweats or something like that. So the palm-sized Flip video camera is perfect for him – but a horror for me.
If your man also likes to capture life’s “real” moments, the Flip video camera would be a great Father’s Day gift. It is fairly affordable, with the basic at $150 and the high end one in HD at $229. You can also create custom design with your own photo or artwork, or choose one of their designs. They have all kinds of categories: sports, retro, tattoos, nature, solid colors, Hello Kitty... Barack Obama! The list goes on and on. There are also Flips for good, where $10 of the purchase price goes to a variety of charities.
He can walk around with it in his pocket and then and slip it into the USB port to upload the inane videos he’s made. I’m sorry, he calls it “art”. But it is also easy enough to capture every sporting moment or cute school performance by your kids. We used to constantly find ourselves saying, “Doh, we forgot the video camera.” Now we almost always have it with us. And instead of piles of video tapes that we never watched, we have the video instantly on the computer to upload to You Tube or send to relatives.
And yesterday we captured our 6-month-old son’s first laughing fit. Priceless.
